Andrew Yee - Artist

Andrew Yee (b. 1989, Sydney) is a multidisciplinary artist working across illustration, video, installation and podcasting. Yee's formative years in the Sydney suburb of East Ryde created a disconnect from his surroundings and self, leading him to escape into pop culture. His practice offers a glimpse into concepts of identity and fantasy, crafted through imaginative narrative forms presented in an idiosyncratic, surreal and comic-inspired aesthetic.

Yee's solo exhibitions include Demolition (2015), ANDYSFRNDS (2016), Andrew Yee (2018), and YAYALAND (2019). He has held collaborative exhibitions with his twin brother Christopher Yee, including No Mas (2017) and Cosmic Neighbour (2024), and launched the Powerhouse Museum's 'Powerhouse Lane' (2024) as part of Parramatta Lanes. Outside of his art practice, Yee has completed numerous commercial projects for McDonald's (USA), Adobe, SXSW, On Running, Casetify, DOPA and more. Over the last few years, Yee has participated in several large-scale public projects for the City of Sydney. His works helped celebrate the Lunar New Year Festival, including 'Then & Now' for the Banner Gallery (2022), 'The Light Rail Dragon' (2024), and 'Snakes and Ladders Board' (2025).

Yee's love of storytelling extends past his illustrative works. He has held celebrated positions as a journalist and documentarian. He has written and produced videos for publications, including Lifewithoutandy, Liminal Mag, Netflix Australia, and was an inaugural lead producer for EST Media. Recently, he completed a documentary about a group of Sydney-based jazz musicians, 'Zodiac!', for the NSW Government and Create NSW.
